Girls Ment To Be, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering and mentoring young girls ages 8-17, will host its program Kick-Off & Supply Giveaway on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Medgar Evers Library.

This event marks the official launch of the 2025-2026 program year. Families will have the opportunity to meet the Girls Ment To Be team, learn about the program, and Explore expectations for the year ahead.

“This event is about more than just giveaway, it is about creating a space where young girls feel valued, heard, supported, and prepared to thrive,” said Shaquondra Thompson, Founder and CEO of Girls Ment To Be. “We want to invite the entire Jackson Metro and surrounding area to come out and learn more about our organization.”

This event is free and open to the public. If anyone is interested in signing up for the program, there will be onsite registration for the 2025-2026 program year.
